When there's a midterm election coming up and you're getting hit hard about big government spending, that's when.

The Obama administration this week is rolling out a multipart economic, um, development program intended to help fight persistently high unemployment. President Obama talked about one part of this program, a proposed $50 billion investment in upgrades for US roads, rail lines, and runways, on Labor Day in Milwaukee.

My question.

Why didn't he do this to begin with? Why spend 787 Billion dollars to see little to no results?

Well lets see first we were told the stimulus would fund what he wants to do now then we had the union bailout of the teachers etc that the porkulus was suppose to do now he wants to rebuild the infrastruscture that the porkulus was also suppose to do. I guess we need to l;ook at China see if our green jobs are over there. The POTUS and his economic team have no idea what they are doing Losersssssss

But you are right you want ot see where the porkulus went just look at the union bosses paychecks they sure havent went down .

And people still think the stimulus is helping America. America, wake up--we're taking it up the tailpipe and without complaint!!

I think there's something seriously wrong with that picture--but if I am the only one, I want those who voted for this joker to take it up the tailpipe without complaint--and a full refund of my money, while we're at it.

Why should any of the taxpayers' money be going to explain any of the above pet projects? And how in heaven's name does any of that help unemployed Americans?

I await the government's explanation--and I had better sit down, 'cause it's gonna be a while.

The stimulus was suppose to put people back to work, well it did, short term only. All those projects are completing now, at least in my town. Those folks that put in the new sewer and water lines and rebuilt the one bridge and repaved about 3 miles of streets are now back on unemployment. What great things is it doing? Truly, other than create more debt what has it done except put a few people back to work on the short term? I know Nancy put one or two out of work biologist to work counting frogs near San Fran. John Martha had his own personal airport built, a lotta use he will get out of it. Why would you design it to kick in mostly in 2012, which is an election year unless you were playing politics? Brian I understand you optimism, but people don't need to be employed in the future, they need jobs now, not later. People are still losing their houses, what about that? We don't need more debt added to the deficit, how is this stimulus going to be any different that the last. Sorry, I don't buy it and neither do a large part of America.

A small part of me, a very small part hopes that the right gets their way and takes control of D.C. Perhaps they will give us another opportunity to let the banking system fail, let the insurance industry fail, let the auto industry fail and so on. You know, the point to which they have already proved they can drive this country to. When once again we have a net loss of three quarters of a million private sector jobs lost per month we will finally be able to see for ourselves if doing nothing, spending nothing, just standing and watching our economy burn will provide us the results the right thinks it would.

I just did an article on this site... I had to stop writing ...it was to much to bear, seeing all the grant money and no jobs created. Even input my old home town zip and saw that they had gotten 112 K for the renovation of the public housing office.. That structure could be rebuilt for $112K.

They also received 180K for storm doors and front doors for 100 units. That is 1800 per unit... yet only 68 units exist. Also no jobs created? So the handyman on site will be putting on the doors.
